Inspiration

Chuck Close would say "not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work." He also says, "all the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself."

I don't know Chuck but I wish I did because I love this quote. I'm pretty sure I'd really like him.

My best work comes from spending time in the studio, working the metal, trying new things. I'll work on something and if it doesn't speak to me, it gets set aside. Sometimes for months, sometimes years. At some point it may get pulled back out and it all comes together. Or it doesn't and it gets melted down! But actual hands on with the metal results in my best possible work.

Time to get back into the studio...
